discomfort resurfaces, still
the return of the repressed turns out to be inevitable
places and objects carry memories I want to forget
or, on the contrary, go back to
but they won’t let me
Spaces, facades, garments, light, scents, even flowers — all have the capacity to carry memory. The past can resurface unexpectedly through places and objects, overwhelming the present with what was once forgotten or pushed aside.
In this project, I gather memory traces tied to my family history. Pain still clings to the villages my ancestors called home, to their clothing, and to the religious images they decorated their houses with.
